Tampico Fiber production process from agave plant to warehouse

Cala Fiber — formerly known as Grupo Interoceanico Cala — is a Mexican producer and exporter of Tampico Fiber, serving customers all around the world since 1998. Based in Saltillo, Coahuila, we are a family business that takes pride in direct sourcing, honest dealing and competitive pricing.

Tampico Fiber is made from a unique plant from Mexico — the Agave Lechuguilla. It grows in the semi-desert areas of northern Mexico and has been exported for centuries to manufacture cords, ropes, and brushes for industrial and personal use.

We are not a large multinational. We are a specialized Mexican family producer and exporter. We differentiate by being direct, flexible and cost-efficient — offering natural, dyed and mixed fiber with competitive export pricing to manufacturers, distributors and importers worldwide.

The Source

Agave Lechuguilla

Our fiber begins with the Agave Lechuguilla, a wild plant that grows in the semi-desert of northern Mexico. Harvested by hand, its leaves yield a natural fiber that has been used for generations.
